‘My subject is War, and the pity of War.
The Poetry is in the pity …
All a poet can do today is warn.’
Wilfred Owen
The words prefacing Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem are as resonant today as in 1962 when the work was first performed.
2025 marks the eightieth year since the ending of the Second World War and the horrifying bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Bournemouth Symphony Chorus are proud to perform this stunning and moving work in Poole with Magna Sinfonia, Bournemouth Chamber Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus.
